Rick Gamache is Vice President/Administrator of Elmhurst Extended Care, Rhode Island’s only Eden Alternative site. Elmhurst is owned and operated by Roger Williams Medical Center, a Boston University-affiliated teaching hospital. Rick is a licensed nursing home administrator with over 25 years experience and one of fifty people worldwide who is certified to teach the Eden philosophy.
He is a member of the American College of Health Care Administrators, and has achieved the distinction of Fellow (the highest rank for a nursing home administrator).
Rick currently chairs the Rhode Island Health Care Association, which represents nearly two-thirds of RI’s nursing homes, and is a founding member and on the Board of Directors of RI Generations, Inc., the RI Culture Change Coalition.
In 2005, Rick was honored with the “Distinguished Administrator Award”, specifically for his work to improve eldercare in nursing homes
